Bodybuilder Samaringa dies

SEASONED bodybuilder Blessing Samaringa has died.

The bodybuilding fraternity was left in mourning after the news filtered that the late hulk, who took to the stage several times locally and internationally, succumbed to injuries after he was involved in a car accident early in the morning. National Federation of Zimbabwe Bodybuilding and Fitness said the death left a huge gap in the fraternity.

“He loved bodybuilding and bodybuilding loved him back. We all loved his coolness. He never uttered a rude word. The contests pitting Samaringa against Isaac “Sugar” Chimuchenga, Samaringa against George Munyoro; we loved it.

“He had a great attitude, the NFZBBF family are mourning,” said NFZBBF in a statement.Former Ironman champion Givemore Marume also expressed his heartbreak.

“We will never have another Samaringa and that is a fact. His approach to things was different and we all respected him.

“I saw him growing up together with Brighton Gotora. We grew together in this industry.

“It’s so sad,” said Marume, who is credited for developing Samaringa, who was widely considered as one of the finest local bodybuilders to ever step on stage.

Four-time national champion Champion Chienderamwano said it was a sad day for bodybuilding.

“It’s indeed a dark day for the Zimbabwe fitness industry. To me he was the NG’olo Kante of Bodybuilding, loved by everyone, he was cool, always smiling, very humble, down to earth guy,” he said.

Funeral and burial arrangements were still sketchy yesterday.
