Couple sell their 8-month-old ¡nfant to purchase iPhone so they could create videos for Instagram Reels

A disturbing incident has unfolded in West Bengal, where a couple went to extreme lengths to create Instagram reels while traveling across the state.

According to a report by the Times of India, a couple from the North 24 Parganas district allegedly §old their eight-month-old ch¡ld to buy the newly released iPhone 14 for their social media content.

Neighbours grew suspicious when they noticed that the baby was missing, yet the parents appeared carefree and untroubled.

Adding to the suspicion was the presence of an iPhone handset, which is quite expensive, given the couple’s known financial difficulties in the past. Concerned by these circumstances, the neighbours promptly filed a complaint at the local police station.

As a result of the investigation, the mother was arrested, but the father is currently on the run. The mother confessed to the police that they §old their ch¡ld to obtain money for purchasing the iPhone and creating reels on Instagram to showcase their travels across West Bengal.

The authorities have registered a case against the couple, as well as the woman who bought the baby, under hum¶n traff¡cking charges.

Similarly, this year, an Australian woman expressed her desire in court to trade her unborn child for an iPhone. Tragically, she had previously locked two of her daughters inside a car for nine hours, leading to their untimely deaths.
