Khama turns down Turkish offer

KHAMA Billiat turned down an offer to play in Turkey to continue playing for Kaizer Chiefs in the South African Premiership.

The Zimbabwean forward was offered “a lucrative deal” to play in the Turkey Premiership, in a deal which was being engineered by a French agent.

“Initially, the signs were positive that he would take the offer and there was excitement even at the club which was targeting him,” sources told H-Metro.

“Remember that Khama is still very valued despite the challenges he has faced in the past year, which were largely because of injury.

“However, just when it seemed that a deal was possible, things just changed and it must have been caused by his change of heart to give it another try at Kaizer Chiefs.

“Maybe, he feels that he owes Chiefs for the investment they made in him and wants to give the club something back.”

Meanwhile, a Chiefs player told FARPost that Billiat was not part of their training session on Monday and Tuesday.

“He didn’t train in the last two days because his contract ended. The club did speak to him about a new deal, but it looks like they couldn’t agree.

“We’re actually on our way to camp in Nelspruit, and Khama is not part of us,” a Chiefs player told FARPost.

Chiefs triggered their option to extend last year, which he wound up recently.

The club had proposed a new deal, which would see him take a hefty pay cut.
