CCC Zambian Friend Joseph Kalimbwe Busted For Fraud

Zambian native Joseph Kalimbwe is being accused of assuming false identity to deceive citizens.

It is alleged that he used the Zambian national youth chairman’s title in his deeds and also collected money which he labelled as fundraising fund from Zimbabwean natives among other victims.

In a statement, the social liberal political party led by Zambian president, Hakainde Hichilema known as the United Party for National Development (UPDM) made the announcement on their Facebook official page.

The party which is also an observer member of the Africa Liberal Network said:

“Gilbert Liswaniso imposter arrested

… Realising that his slender body resembled that of UPND National Youth Chairman Gilbert Liswaniso, Joseph Kalimbwe of Lusaka embarked on door to door campaigns, deceiving unsuspecting members of the public that he was from the Central Committee of the governing party.

Before Kalimbwe, 27, went to Zimbabwe, he is said to have collected money from unsuspecting persons, and on several occasions, travelled to neighbouring country to represent the UPND as National Youth Chairman, Gilbert Liswaniso, and further solicited financial support.

When the real National Youth Chairman learned that Kalimbwe had been dubiously conversing resources using the name of the UPND, in the pretext that the party needed funds for campaign activities, Liswaniso reported to the police.

And today as Kalimbwe embarked on his usual deceptive way door to door fundraising visits, Police officers who had been pursuing him, apprehended and rushed him to Central Police where he remains behind bars.

Liswaniso has warned those using the name of the party and his office to commit crimes, and dupe people that their days are numbered.

“It pains me to know that a young person like him can do such a thing. There are many of such people out there, and we’ve reported them to the police. They’re stealing from poor citizens using the name of the party. May the law take it’s course,” said Liswaniso, in an interview.

-Gilbert Liswaniso.”
