Scandal’s “Dr Nyasha Mugari” Zimbabwean Actor Nabbed For Assaulting His Wife
Zimbabwean actor Jerome Galiao, who plays the role of fan favourite Dr Nyasha Mugari on e.tv soapie Scandal, has been arrested for beating his wife.
H-Metro reported that the 38-year-old actor was taken into custody on 27 March at Linden Police Station in Randburg. His case is under reference number CAS 280/3/2023, and he is expected to make a court appearance today, charged with domestic violence.
The publication got in touch with Jerome’s wife, Nerissa Mema, and she declined to entertain the media, insisting that she needs some privacy.
A source spoke to H-Metro and revealed the details of “Dr Nyasha Mugari’s” arrest:
“Jerome is in police custody in Randburg. He was arrested last night for domestic violence. He is in the cells and will appear in court on Tuesday (today). You can contact SAPS for more information. This is not the first time he has bashed her.”
Jerome Galiao made a name for himself in the Zimbabwean arts industry firstly as a presenter on the show Youth.com.
Owing to his talent, confidence and physique, he won several advertising gigs before landing a role on a Zimbabwean soapie, Estate Blues.
When Zimbabwe’s economy collapsed in 2008, Jerome migrated to South Africa, hustling for non-acting jobs to sustain himself.
The actor then got featured on several South African television productions like Umlilo, The Queen, Zabalaza, Gomora, Broken Vows, The River, Isithembiso, Hope and Binnelanders.
In 2021, after many small and inconsistent roles, Jerome Galiao got his big break and landed the role of Dr Nyasha Mugari on e.tv’s flagship soap opera, Scandal!
Besides acting, the father of two is also a VIP protection security and a fitness trainer.
