Ex-wife Demands Upward Review Of Maintenance

A HARARE woman claims her ex-husband, who is a security guard, has a side hustle which earns him an average of US$500 a month.

She wants an upward review of maintenance from $60 000 to $100 000.

Lorraine Matimbire also wants Alfred Matarure to pay school fees for their child.

But, Matarure said he could not afford what was being demanded.

“I am a security guard earning $209 000 with no USD allowances and I have since remarried with a child.

“When we last came here in December l was a vendor and because of financial difficulties I had to seek employment,” he said.

Tambudzai declined the offer saying it’s not enough to sustain their child and told the court that he had other sources of income.

“He has a side hustle, sometimes he sells potatoes and drinks earning an average of US$500, he is pretending to be sorry but he is making a lot of money, it’s just l don’t have proof.

“The child he is claiming to have is not his, he married a woman with a child and they took a birth certificate with his name, I know everything.”

Magistrate Sharon Mashavira ordered Alfred to pay $80 000 child support.
