Thief Caught Red-Handed Dozing On The Scene After Drinking 3 Bottles Of Whiskey  – In a comical twist of fate, a Nyanga burglar’s love for whisky led to his downfall after he broke into a bar and indulged himself a bit too much.

Dickson Simango, 28, couldn’t resist the temptation and ended up guzzling three bottles of whisky and treating himself to two canned beef tins after breaking into the bar by removing an asbestos sheet and part of the ceiling.

As if his feast wasn’t enough, Simango then found himself too intoxicated to climb out and make his escape. He passed out inside the bar, where the owner discovered him in the morning, leading to his swift arrest. The stolen loot amounted to US$266.80, but only US$183.50 worth of items were recovered.

Simango’s court appearance brought more irony to the tale. Despite his embarrassing and self-incriminating actions, he was sentenced to 12 months in prison, with three months suspended for good behavior.
