Two Women Rob Soldier Of Honda Fit Moments After Selling It To Him

Beverly Tsitsi Nherudzo, 24, from Chitepo Heights in Harare, and Mary Muchaziwepi, 52, residing in South View Fidelity Park in Harare, appeared before Harare magistrate Donald Ndirowei, facing charges of motor vehicle theft. The court granted them US$50 bail each, scheduling their return on February 7.

ZimLive reports that the pair sold a Honda Fit to a soldier, Michael Kaduku, who intended to gift the vehicle to his wife. However, moments after the transaction, the car was stolen.

On December 31, 2023, Kaduku contacted Muchaziwepi, notifying her of his plan to make a payment for a black Honda Fit. They agreed to meet at Harare Show Grounds. Upon arrival, Nherudzo, communicating with Kaduku using Muchaziwepi’s number, picked him up and took him to Westgate Shopping Centre in the Honda Fit.

At Westgate Shopping Centre, Nherudzo introduced Muchaziwepi to Kaduku as her mother, explaining that the car belonged to Nherudzo’s ailing sister, who needed cash for medical expenses. Negotiations ensued, resulting in Kaduku agreeing to a purchase price of US$4,000. He paid US$3,000 upfront, with the remaining US$1,000 scheduled for instalment payments between January and February 2024. Nherudzo handed over the car keys.

After the transaction, Nherudzo and Muchaziwepi informed Kaduku that they needed affidavit forms from Pick n Pay to draft a sale agreement. Leaving his wife’s purse containing US$1,100 in the car, Kaduku accompanied them to the supermarket, where Muchaziwepi abruptly left, claiming she was heading home, leaving Nherudzo to complete the paperwork.

Upon returning to the parking lot, Kaduku discovered the car he had just purchased being driven by an unknown individual. Nherudzo fled simultaneously with the car thief. Kaduku reported the incident to ZRP Glen Norah, leading to investigations revealing that Nherudzo had previously reported the same vehicle as stolen.

During interviews, Nherudzo implicated Muchaziwepi and another individual, Misheck Chirara, who remains at large. iHarare
