The announcement followed General Notice 291 of 2024, which confirmed the list of the new senators, as well as those who would fill the Proportional Representation vacancies in the National Assembly, including Nomvula Mguni, Otilia Sibanda, Lungile Ncube, Sikhuphukile Dube, and Sibongile Maphosa.

These elections were held on February 3rd after several recalls, which stirred several members of the CCC to accuse Tshabangu and Phulu of not involving them in the process.
