Manhunt Launched For Chitungwiza Man Who Infected Boy With STI
There is a manhunt in Chitungwiza for a man who stands accused of s€xually abusing a teenage boy in the area.
A 14-year-old boy (name withheld) was infected with an STI.
He revealed that he had been a victim of s€xual abuse for a prolonged period.
Both the victim and suspected perpetrator reside in the CA area of the St Mary’s neighbourhood.
The boy’s aunt, who is his guardian, said she noted last Friday that the teen was limping but had not told her of any injury.
When she asked him, the boy’s friends who were present started to laugh.
“I became suspicious though some people attributed the whole thing to puberty,” the aunt said.
The following day, the boy found it difficult to get up and the aunt told a male neighbour to check on him.
The neighbour quizzed the boy until he confessed that he had been infected with an STI by the suspect.
A report was filed at St Mary’s Police Station.
The minor was assisted with a medical affidavit to seek medical attention at Chitungwiza Central Hospital.
The CA residents are mooting a demonstration at the home of the suspect.
“We want to chase him from the neighbourhood and protect more children from potential abuse,” one of the residents said.
Another resident added:
“It was terrible exploitation of an innocent young boy.
“That man took advantage of the fact that boy comes from a poor family and deserves to be jailed for life so that he cannot harm other kids.”
The boy dropped out of school because his guardian could no longer afford to pay fees.
“Sometimes he was given money, small amounts like 200 bond to buy mazepi (corn snacks),” said a resident.
