Man Touches Woman’s Breasts Over Sadza

A man from Mpopoma suburb in Bulawayo with straying hands landed himself in trouble after he touched a woman’s breast over isitshwala/sadza.

This was heard when Abel Ncube (37) appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Makelo Ncube facing an indecent assault charge.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge but was convicted after a full trial and remanded out of custody to 4 September for sentencing.

In his defence Ncube strongly denied ever fondling the victim’s breasts. “I went to a restaurant situated along Railway Avenue to buy isitshwala/sadza and upon arrival I found the alleged victim with other women and I asked whether there was still isitshwala. The victim told me that it was finished.

“After that I returned to my workplace. I never fondled her breasts as she is alleging,” said Ncube.

Testifying in court the victim said Ncube came to their restaurant and found her sweeping before he asked for isitshwala.

She said on the day in question Ncube was heavily intoxicated and he moved closer to her before he grabbed her breasts.

She said she screamed for help before she reached for a bucket full of water and poured it on him.
