Man struck by machete during robbery

A ROBBERY victim was left battling for his life after he was struck by a machete once on his head during a robbery at his residence at Blackforby Primary School staff quarters.

One of the suspected robbers, Passionate Chipfuva also known as Machona, appeared in court over the weekend.

The court heard that on July 12, at around 2.30am, Chipfuva and his three accomplices connived to rob Panganai Nheya, who resides on the school premises.

Armed with a machete, baton stick, iron bars, barbed wire and a pair of handcuffs, they proceeded to his home and knocked at Nheya’s residence.

They ordered him to open the door but he refused.

The robbers broke down the door to gain entry and handcuffed Nheya before assaulting him with iron bars and striking him on the head with the machete.

The robbers ransacked the house and stole US$400 and a Samsung M53 5G.

They also grabbed hold of Dennis Musikirwa and Caleb Masawi who had come to try and assist Nheya.

They searched Dennis Musikirwa and stole his Tecno Spark 9T cell phone.

They allegedly force marched Caleb Masawi to his home where they stole his Samsung A12, a DSTV decoder, a TV and decoder remote controls, a power cable and his son’s size 6 school shoes. H Metro
