University leaks list of virgins, phones disconnected as men stampede for phone numbersAl-Farabi National University in Almaty, Kazakhstan, has been hit by a massive scandal after a confidential list containing personal information of female students was leaked via WhatsApp.

The list included personal details such as names, ages, phone numbers, and even tax codes of the victims. The sensitive information was immediately shared on multiple social media groups associated with the university. Within minutes, men were asking for the list on Almaty Telegram chats.

According to reports, the leaked data includes the results of an examination with a gynaecologist, noting whether the patient was a virgin.

While it has been deleted from some places, the repercussions are still being felt by the women whose privacy was breached.

The leaked list, which reportedly contains the virginity status of at least 190 students ascertained during medical examinations, was widely circulated throughout the university’s social media groups.

“The documents were instantly distributed across all university chats,” reported one news outlet.

The concept of personal privacy and space has been called into question, with women expressing their outrage at the violation of their personal data. The university administration has faced flak for the gross breach of privacy, with people demanding action against the culprits.

Kazakhstan’s Minister of Science and Higher Education, Sayasat Nurbek, has intervened in this case and promised that strict measures would be taken against those responsible for the breach of privacy. The reason for such intrusive examinations and subsequent data collection remain unclear, and it raises questions of whether they were mandatory for all students.

The incident has sparked an outrage among the student population, and the administration has been forced to act to bring those involved to justice.
