Controversial Prophet Shepherd Bushiri Returns To South Africa

In a new development that has left social media users with a lot of unanswered questions, it seems like the controversial, fugitive Malawian prophet, Shepherd Bushiri is set to make a huge comeback to South Africa after years in exile in his country.

A poster trending on Twitter claims that the ECG founder duped Major 1 will be back in the country on the 23rd of December for a Gala Dinner at Pretoria Showgrounds and Hall C.

While the authenticity and more details of this event are seemingly sketchy at the moment, the poster has left a bad taste in many South Africans.  Bushiri, who was facing fraud and money laundering charges, skipped the border in 2020 together with his wife after being sought after by South African police.

The South African government is still in the process of extraditing the fugitive prophet in order to stand trial on several charges.  Bushiri vowed to never set foot in South Africa after his dramatic exit from the country.

He claimed that the South African police wanted to kidnap him and so he skipped the country.  Some of the charges he faces in South Africa include fraud relating to an investment scheme valued at more than R100 million, rape charges and breaking immigration laws.

If the news on the viral poster is true, the daring prophet could be literally handing himself over to the police, social media claims.

However, after consultations with Bushiri’s church members who asked to remain anonymous, iHarare understands that the said event trending online was actually a Gala a few years ago while Bushiri was still in South Africa.

On another note, the said date put on the flier does not tally with this year’s date where the 23rd of December does not fall on a Saturday.

The poster could be old or fake, iHarare reports.

Reports claim that Bushiri is currently fighting extradition in Malawian courts and cannot set foot in South Africa before the court case.

He, however, walks as a free man in his home country as reported by Malawi media. He is currently building a mega futuristic city in Malawi called Goshen City.
