Witness Cleopas Magugu spoke out during the funeral, revealing that the assault took place at Kuwadzana Shopping Centre. The family did not report the incident to the police at the time. However, following Magugu’s revelations, the family filed a report, prompting the police to reopen the case.

Police investigation

Assistant Inspector Faith Mapisa has confirmed the initiation of an investigation into the suspected murdr. Changadeya’s older brother discovered him at a house in Mbare on January 4, seemingly unharmed.

However, two days later, Changadeya’s health deteriorated rapidly, requiring his admittance to Sally Mugabe Hospital, where he eventually died due to his injuries. Medical reports later revealed signs of assault, leading the family to file a police report after the burial. The exhumation of Changadeya’s body is now scheduled for a post-mortem investigation.
