WILL SERIAL WINNERS STRIKE ONCE AGAIN?

WILL the Muhle family of Rusape strike gold again and win, at least, an 11th car at Borrowdale Park tomorrow?

Or will another fellow, without even a driver’s licence, see her hopes of owning a brand new car come true at this festival of dreams in the capital?

From horses and courses to cheers and tears, it will be a cathedral of emotions at Borrowdale Park tomorrow as the latest OK Grand Challenge promotion comes to a climax.

In the past, thousands of people have made the pilgrimage to Borrowdale Park for the grand event.

And, at the end of it all, there will be the superstars of music to provide the sound which will bring the curtain down on one of the capital’s biggest festivals.

Sungura ace Alick Macheso, man-of-the-moment Jah Prayzah and songbird Feli Nandi are part of the bill.

And, so are the Zimdancehall acts who include the Chillspot duo of DJ Fantan and Levels, Boss Pumacol, Bazooker, Uncle Epatan, Ndunge Yut and Master H.

Top wheel spinners DJ King Her, and DJ Made Her Believe will also provide cover on stage.

Last year, the Muhle family struck again when they won their 10th car, in just five years, in the promotion.

It was won by Fatima, the wife of serial winner Clement, and she took home a Delta Corporation-sponsored Nissan NP200.

Their children – four boys and four girls – have also won a car each in the jackpot and only one of them, their youngest son, who was one last year, is yet to try his luck.

“Like I said, it’s all about the volumes you buy on a particular product that increase your chances,” Fatima said.

“We have Christian values and we don’t use juju, those who accuse us of using it have never treated the competition seriously like we do.”

Portia Dube, a married mother of two, even did better as she won two Nissan NP200s, which were sponsored by two of OK Zimbabwe Limited’s partners for the event – Arenel and CABS.

Seven years ago, Melissa Mapfumo didn’t even have a driver’s licence when she tried her luck and won a brand new Ford Ranger Wildtrak at the same jackpot in 2016.

It’s just another example of how the OK Grand Challenge can change lives and, tomorrow, 40 vehicles are up for grabs.

One lucky customer will walk away with the grand prize of a Ford Ranger twin cab.

Of course, there will be some serious racing.

Sixteen runners will be part of the grand race with the bulk of the horses provided by top trainer, Debra Swanson.

“The OK Grand Challenge draw is on. There will be a live concert just for your entertainment. It’s a family event with a kids play area also available and of course the big draws.

Usasaririre, make sure you make it in time to catch all the action.

“It’s going to be fired up on the 3rd June with an amazing line-up of artists. Over 40 cars to be won on the day!

“Come have fun with us as we shut it down,” said the organisers in a tweet.

Ordinary tickets are going for US$1 while one has to part with US$3 for the VIP section.

Gates open at 10 am.
