Police Nab Notorious Robbery Suspects Linked to Murder Case in Chegutu – Chegutu, Zimbabwe – In a significant breakthrough, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the arrest of two notorious suspects, Talent Mutandwa (29) and Enock Maseko (35), in connection with a brazen robbery that transpired on the 27th of January 2024 in Rondor, Chakari, Chegutu.
The daring attack unfolded when the suspects, donned in balaclavas and armed with machetes and Colombian knives, targeted two victims, making off with cell phones and an undisclosed amount of cash.
On the same day, detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Chegutu, acting on received intelligence, apprehended Enock Maseko, who was intercepted while aboard a silver Toyota Runx. The arrest of Maseko led to the recovery of a pistol, an okapi knife, a balaclava, and a machete.
Crackdown on Crime Continues as ZRP Vows to Intensify Efforts
Following Maseko’s arrest, he cooperated with the authorities, leading them to Ingezi, Kadoma, where Talent Mutandwa was apprehended. Mutandwa’s arrest yielded the recovery of a firearm and a dagger.
The police further disclosed that the suspects guided detectives to Martin Spur, Kadoma, where they allegedly concealed weapons used in other robbery cases. However, the situation took a dramatic turn when the suspects attempted to flee, resulting in both Mutandwa and Maseko sustaining gunshot wounds to the legs. They are currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital in Chegutu.
Police Nab Notorious Robbery
In a press statement, the ZRP revealed that investigations have uncovered the suspects’ outstanding warrant of arrest, issued by the Chegutu Magistrates Court on January 16, 2024. This warrant was issued after the duo defaulted on bail conditions related to a separate murder case.
Notably, the police have linked Mutandwa and Maseko to a series of heinous cr¡mes, including murd£r, robbery, malicious damage, and attempted murd£r. These crimes occurred on the 13th of January 2024 at Pfupajena Stadium in Chegutu.
Emphasizing the commitment to combating criminal activities, the ZRP reiterated that they will not back down in the fight against robbery. The police warned that any form of confrontation with their elite crack teams will be met with an appropriate response.
The latest arr£sts underscore the relentless efforts of the Zimbabwe Republic Police in curbing criminal activities and ensuring the safety of citizens in Chegutu and surrounding areas.
