ZRP Warn of $200,000 Bribery Scheme by Saikonda Group in Walter Magaya Case

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has issued a warning about attempts to disrupt the legal proceedings against Walter Magaya, the leader of PHD Ministries. Magaya is facing accusations of rape and fraud. He was recently granted $3,000 bail after spending 12 days in prison.

In a statement, ZRP stated that authorities are aware of organized efforts aimed at influencing police officers, prosecutors, magistrates, and judges involved in Magaya’s ongoing investigations and court appearances.

“A group led by Albertina Saikonda, based in South Africa, is reportedly trying to raise over $200,000 from sources in Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Australia. This money is intended to bribe officials to derail the criminal investigations and court proceedings related to Magaya,” read the statement.

The police have made it clear that anyone involved in these efforts will face arrest, as the law will be enforced without fear or favour.

They are closely monitoring the situation to ensure the effective maintenance of law and order and the delivery of justice.

Furthermore, the police urge all potential witnesses to report any offers, cash, or promises made to them in connection with this scheme, ensuring swift action can be taken against those attempting to obstruct justice.
