ZRP Probes Murder of Woman Accused of Stealing US$500 at Sleepover

MBERENGWA – The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) is investigating the murder of 20-year-old Viola Hove, who was allegedly assaulted and killed in Village 4, Dunning Farm, Mberengwa.

Two suspects, Manyaya Muvhecha and Shepherd Mhundonga, are accused of attacking her after claiming she had stolen US$500 during a sleepover.

According to police reports, the incident occurred on 10 May 2025, when the suspects invited Viola and her friend for a sleepover.

During the night, the suspects alleged that the two women had stolen money and subsequently prevented them from leaving.

Concerned for Viola’s safety, her sister filed a missing persons report with ZRP Mberengwa.

According to Ignite Media Zimbabwe, police investigations revealed that on 15 May 2025, Viola’s friend provided crucial information that led officers to the crime scene, where they discovered Viola’s decomposing body.

Law enforcement continues investigations to ensure justice is served.
