Zimbabwean Man Dies in Sharjah High-Rise Fire Weeks After Moving to UAE – A devastating fire in a residential tower in Al Nahda, Sharjah, has claimed the life of a young Zimbabwean man, just weeks after he had relocated to the United Arab Emirates in search of a better future.
The victim, 27-year-old Shepard Mudoveri, had recently arrived from Zimbabwe and moved into an apartment on the 42nd floor of the building on April 2.

He hailed from Maisiri Village in Chikara (Nharira Township) and was a commercial student with aspirations of building a new life abroad.
Tragically, Shepard was trapped in his apartment when the fire broke out and was unable to escape.

Authorities are still investigating the exact cause of the fire and the circumstances that led to his de@th.

Following confirmation of his death, Shepard’s grieving family has issued a heartfelt appeal for assistance.
They are requesting support in the following areas:
- Embassy Involvement: They urge the Zimbabwean Embassy in the UAE to officially acknowledge the incident and assist with the necessary formalities.
- Travel Assistance: The family is hoping for help to enable relatives to travel to the UAE and participate in any official processes related to Shepard’s death.
- DNA Confirmation: They are also seeking help with DNA sample coordination, so that a family member can assist in confirming Shepard’s identity.
