Zimbabwean Man Dies After Levubu Tavern Stabbing — Limpopo Police Hunt Fugitive
LIMPOPO police have launched a manhunt for a suspect after a 31-year-old Zimbabwean man was fatally stabbed by another Zimbabwean national during an altercation at a tavern in Levubu.
The incident occurred on Sunday, 28 September 2025, at around 17:30 along Levubu B Road, where a heated dispute broke out between the two men.
During the confrontation, the victim sustained multiple stab wounds and was rushed to Tshilidzini Hospital.
Despite efforts by medical staff, he died in the early hours of Saturday, 4 October.
Police have identified the suspect as Richard Chiraira, who fled the scene immediately after the attack and remains at large.
The case, initially registered as attempted murder, has since been upgraded to murder following the victim’s death.
Authorities say they are actively pursuing the suspect and have intensified efforts to locate him.
“A manhunt is underway, and we are appealing to anyone with information to assist the police in locating the suspect,” said provincial police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba.
Investigations are ongoing, and police are urging community members to come forward with any leads that could help bring Chiraira to justice.
The motive behind the stabbing is still under investigation, though preliminary reports suggest it may have stemmed from a personal dispute.
According to IOL, law enforcement officials are working around the clock to close in on the fugitive.
In a separate case last month, Limpopo police launched an investigation into a suspected mob justice killing in Mooihoek, Driekop.
The body of a man, believed to be a Zimbabwean national in his 30s, was discovered with severe injuries consistent with a brutal assault.
Responding to a murder report, officers arrived to find the victim with wounds allegedly inflicted using stones and bottles.
Paramedics declared him dead at the scene.
Police confirmed that the motive behind the mob attack remains unclear and appealed once again for public assistance.
The two cases have sparked concern over rising violence involving foreign nationals in the province, prompting calls for stronger community engagement and cooperation with law enforcement.
