Zambian Influencer Gezile Smith Mwale Arrested for Recording & Sharing S£xtapes – Zambian police have arrested and charged 23-year-old social media influencer Gezile Smith Mwale over allegations of producing and circulating obscene videos that were widely shared online.

According to Zambia Police Public Relations Officer Godfrey Chilabi, Mwale has been charged with production of obscene matters or things, an offence under Section 177 of the Penal Code, Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

Chilabi said investigators allege that between July 22 and July 27, 2026, Mwale worked with other individuals to produce videos showing people engaged in obscene acts, which later went viral on the internet.

“It is alleged that between July 22 and 27, 2026, Gezile, acting together with other individuals, participated in the production of videos depicting people engaged in obscene acts that went viral on internet,” said Chilabi.

Police further allege that the influencer distributed the videos across various social media platforms.

The case was reported to the Zambia Police Service’s Anti-Cyber Crime Unit on July 27, triggering a joint investigation with the Zambia Cyber Security Agency. Authorities said preliminary investigations led to Mwale’s arrest, while efforts to locate other suspects linked to the case are continuing.

Mwale remains in police custody and is expected to appear in court.

Police have also reminded members of the public that producing, possessing, publishing or circulating obscene material is a criminal offence under Zambian law.

The arrest follows earlier reports that police had opened investigations into Mwale over allegations that she had produced and shared obscene content involving herself and several other women.
