ZAMA 2025 Put On Hold As Organisers Prioritise Credibility, Excellence

HARARE – The 5th edition of the Zimbabwe Agriculture Media Awards (ZAMA), which had been scheduled for 28 August 2025 in Harare, has been postponed to a later date, organisers confirmed in a statement released on Tuesday.

The awards, jointly coordinated by the Zimbabwe Agricultural Society and Mejrkh Communications, have been deferred to allow more time for consultations with key stakeholders in the agriculture and media sectors.

Organisers say these engagements are essential to maintaining the credibility, inclusivity, and overall excellence of the event.

In the statement, Mejrkh Communications explained that the decision was reached after careful consideration by the organising committee.

“After careful consideration, the organising committee has resolved to postpone the event to a later date,” the statement read.

According to the organisers, the postponement is aimed at ensuring the awards reflect broad industry participation and uphold the standards they are known for.

“These engagements are critical to ensuring that the awards continue to reflect broad industry participation, credibility, and excellence,” said Mejrkh Communications.

The Herald reported that this year’s edition has already attracted a record 148 entries, signalling growing interest in agricultural journalism and broadcasting.

Organisers expressed confidence that the additional time will allow the awards to be hosted under conditions that match their stature.

“We are confident that by allowing additional time for these processes, the ZAMA Awards will be hosted under conditions that befit their stature and importance in celebrating professionalism, excellence, innovation, and integrity in agricultural reporting and broadcasting,” Mejrkh Communications said.

They added that the new date will be announced once consultations are concluded.

“We will communicate the new date once consultations are concluded, and we remain committed to delivering an event worthy of national pride.

“We regret any inconvenience this adjustment may have caused to stakeholders and the wider media community,” the statement continued.
