Woman Secretly Gives Birth in Toilet and Buries Baby in Garden

A woman from Chipinge, Tariro Guzete, has been found guilty of hiding a birth after she gave birth in a toilet and buried her baby’s body in a nearby garden.

At the Chipinge Magistrates’ Court, she was sentenced to complete 140 hours of community service by Magistrate Cathrene Dzivanyika. The case was prosecuted by Pamela Mufudza.

According to a report by ManicaPost, the situation came to light when Guzete’s younger sister saw her leaving the toilet with a plastic bag, which she later threw away in the garden. The sister informed their mother, who already knew about Guzete’s pregnancy.

“When questioned, Guzete ran away but was eventually caught by members of the public, leading to her arrest,” said Mufudza.
