Woman Guilty of Murder After Boyfriend Found Dead in Suitcase!
A Florida woman has been convicted of second-degree murder after allegedly zipping her boyfriend into a suitcase and leaving him to die in 2020. Sarah Boone, now 47, was found guilty on Friday in a case that has drawn significant attention.
According to court documents, Boone claimed her boyfriend, Jorge Torres Jr., 42, became trapped during a game of hide-and-seek.
The couple had been drinking chardonnay and doing puzzles at their Winter Park apartment when they decided to incorporate a suitcase into their game.
Boone zipped Torres inside a blue suitcase, believing he could escape as two of his fingers were still visible.
After zipping him up, Boone went to bed, thinking Torres would free himself. However, when she woke up, she discovered he was unresponsive inside the suitcase.
Evidence presented during the trial included videos found on Boone’s phone, where Torres could be heard pleading for help while Boone laughed and dismissed his pleas.
In one video, Torres was heard saying, “I can’t f**king breathe, seriously,” while attempting to push against the suitcase.
During the trial, Boone’s defense argued that she suffered from “Battered Spouse Syndrome” and was fearful for her safety. Boone testified for nearly five hours, maintaining that she believed Torres could escape.
After the verdict, Boone’s attorney expressed disappointment, while Torres’s family appeared emotional and chose not to speak to the media. “Just shock. She’s shocked, you know,” said James Owens, referring to Boone’s reaction.
Boone is scheduled for sentencing on December 2 at 1:30 p.m., according to a release from the state attorney’s office. The case raises serious questions about consent and accountability in domestic situations.
