Woman Allegedly Beheaded by Gospel Singer Boyfriend

Social media is filled with grief as Nigerians mourn the death of 24-year-old Salome Adaidu, who was allegedly beheaded by her boyfriend, Timileyin Ajayi, a gospel singer.

The shocking incident occurred on Sunday when Ajayi was found carrying Adaidu’s severed head near a church.

Witnesses reported that Ajayi drew attention while carrying the head in a bag, prompting bystanders to confront him before police intervened and arrested him. Authorities later recovered other dismembered parts of Adaidu’s body from Ajayi’s home.

Nasarawa police spokesman Ramhan Nansel confirmed the details. He stated, “The suspect was found with a fresh human head, and when we got to the scene, we rescued him from being mobbed.”

Salome Adaidu was a member of the National Youth Service Corps, currently serving in Abuja. Investigations into the incident are ongoing. Ajayi claimed he killed Salome after she cheated on him during their year-long relationship.

Adaidu’s family is calling for a thorough investigation and prosecution of those responsible for her death.

Her sister, Patience Adaidu, expressed frustration over the police’s handling of the case, stating, “Police have not given us any information about my sister… We demand justice, we need help from Nigerians.”

Friends of the deceased are also mourning the loss. Abby Simon, a close friend, shared her sorrow with BBC Pidgin, noting the impact on Adaidu’s mother, who lost her husband just seven months ago. “Nobody deserves to die this way,” Simon emphasized, adding that Adaidu was not in a relationship with the suspect.

Messages of support have flooded social media, with users expressing their condolences and outrage. One user, Avni James, wrote, “RIP Salome Adaidu. Your killer will never have rest even after death.” Another, Amara Josephine, shared her sadness, saying, “That gruesome image of that young lady saddens my heart. I pray for her family.”
