Woman (26) Dies After Being Set on Fire by Husband, In-Laws Over Dowry – A 26-year-old woman named Nikki has died after she was allegedly t0rtured and set ablaze by her husband and in-laws in Sirsa village, Greater Noida — eight years into her marriage.
According to police, Nikki’s husband, Vipin Bhati, has been arrested in connection with the crime, while his parents, Daya and Satveer, and his brother Rohit remain on the run.
Additional DCP Sudhir Kumar confirmed that Nikki was first admitted to Fortis Hospital with severe burn injuries on August 21, 2025, and later referred to Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital.
She d!ed en route due to the extent of her injuries.
The case came to light after Nikki’s sister, Kanchan, filed a formal complaint. Both sisters had married into the same family in 2016—Kanchan to Rohit and Nikki to Vipin.
In her statement, Kanchan alleged that despite their family giving a Scorpio car and other valuables at the time of marriage, Nikki’s in-laws continued to demand ₹36 lakh.

Another car was also provided later, but the harassment reportedly continued.
She further alleged that Vipin, who was unemployed and addicted to alcohol, frequently beat Nikki with support from his parents. “They t0rtured Nikki regularly.
When I tried to stop them, they beat me too—sometimes even in front of our children,” Kanchan said.
On August 21, she claimed, Vipin physically assaulted both sisters before pouring an inflammable substance on Nikki and setting her on fire.
CCTV and mobile footage reviewed by police reportedly show Nikki being dragged and beaten by her husband and mother-in-law.
Neighbours rushed her to the hospital, but she later succumbed to her injuries.
Police have filed charges of murd£r, voluntarily causing hurt, and criminal conspiracy against Vipin, Rohit, and their parents.
However, dowry harassment charges have not yet been added.
“The other accused are absconding, and multiple teams have been deployed to track them down,” DCP Kumar stated.
