Woman (23) Arrested After Marrying 25 Men in 7 Months

Woman (23) Arrested After Marrying 25 Men in 7 Months – A 23-year-old Indian woman identified as Anuradha Paswan has been arrested for allegedly marrying 25 men across multiple states in just seven months.

Dubbed the “loot-and-scoot bride,” Anuradha was arrested in Bhopal by police from Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan.

According to authorities, Anuradha was part of a sophisticated marriage scam network.

She allegedly posed as a genuine bride, married unsuspecting men, and fled days later with their valuables — including gold, cash, and electronics.

“She would vanish almost immediately after the wedding, taking everything valuable with her,” said investigation officer Meetha Lal. “Her methods were calculated and highly practiced.”

The fraud unraveled after Vishnu Sharma, a resident of Sawai Madhopur, filed a complaint on May 3.

He claimed he paid Rs 2 lakh to marriage agents Sunita and Pappu Meena to help him find a wife.

Anuradha married him in a local court on April 20 — only to disappear on May 2, allegedly taking off with his valuables.

“We trusted her. She seemed like an ordinary woman looking to settle down,” Sharma told police.

Investigators revealed that Anuradha previously worked at a hospital in Maharajganj, Uttar Pradesh, and had separated from her husband following a domestic dispute.

After relocating to Bhopal, she allegedly joined a criminal ring that used WhatsApp and similar platforms to connect “brides” with clients, charging between Rs 2 to Rs 5 lakh per arrangement.

Just days after fleeing Sharma’s home, Anuradha reportedly married another man named Gabbar in Bhopal, scamming him out of Rs 2 lakh as well.

Her arrest was made possible after an undercover officer posed as a potential groom.

“We set a trap and waited. When the agent sent her photo, we moved in immediately,” said Officer Lal.

The investigation into the marriage racket is ongoing, with more arrests expected as police dig deeper into the network.
