Witchcraft Suspected as Granny’s Body Found Mutilated, Private Parts Shaved in Desecrated Grave

The mutilated body of a 98-year-old woman was discovered yesterday morning in Nyamajura, Odzi—two weeks after she was buried.

The deceased, identified as Mbuya Irene John Beseni, was found placed above her coffin inside an open grave, which family members suspect is a chilling case of grave desecration linked to witchcraft.

The discovery came after one of Beseni’s daughters, Lydia Ndoro, noticed signs of grave tampering on Monday but did not inspect further.

When the family returned to the site, they found the grave open and the body exposed.

“We visited the gravesite and were met with the horrific sight of her body placed above the coffin inside the grave.

“To our distress, several body parts, including her face, were missing,” said Winnet Beseni, another daughter.

What has left the family deeply unsettled is the condition of the corpse, which showed no signs of decomposition or odour despite being buried for two weeks.

The Manica Post, which visited the scene, reported that the elderly woman’s face had been mauled and other parts of her body were disfigured.

Her private parts had also been partially shaved, adding to the disturbing nature of the incident.

At the time of reporting, police had not yet arrived at the scene, while a crowd of shocked villagers had gathered around the grave.

Many expressed fear and disbelief, with some speculating that the desecration may be linked to ritual practices.

The community remains shaken as authorities begin investigations into the chilling case.
