Wednesday Gossip: Bayern Munich Target Rashford As Manchester United Demand £40m Fee

German club Bayern Munich are targeting Marcus Rashford as they explore options to strengthen their attack ahead of the new season.

Manchester United are reportedly open to selling the 27-year-old forward, with an asking price set at around £40 million during this summer’s transfer window.

Rashford spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, where he scored four goals and provided six assists in 27 appearances under Unai Emery.

His performances at Villa Park are said to have impressed Bayern’s recruitment team, prompting the Bundesliga champions to consider a formal approach.

According to The Sun, Rashford is prioritising a move abroad, with Barcelona also monitoring his situation.

United are believed to be open to various exit options, including a permanent transfer, loan deal, or player swap, as the England international no longer features in manager Ruben Amorim’s long-term plans.

Bayern boss Vincent Kompany is reportedly keen to add firepower to his squad and has also shown interest in Liverpool winger Luis Díaz.

Barcelona had a bid for Díaz rejected earlier this month, though the Colombian has expressed satisfaction at Anfield while acknowledging ongoing talks with other clubs. “I’m very, very happy in Liverpool… we’re trying to sort out what’s best for us,” he said.

With several top European clubs circling and United ready to negotiate, Rashford’s future remains one of the most closely watched stories of the summer window.

A move to Germany could offer the academy graduate a fresh start after a turbulent spell at Old Trafford.
