“We Are a Nation That Honours Life”: Mnangagwa Slams Ritual Crimes
President Emmerson Mnangagwa has condemned ritual murders, s€xu@l violence, and other brutal crimes, warning that perpetrators will face the full wrath of the law.
His remarks come amid a disturbing rise in violent incidents across the country, including the deaths of children and mutilated bodies discovered in separate provinces.
Speaking during a Zanu PF Politburo meeting in Harare on Tuesday, the President said such acts have no place in Zimbabwe and must be rooted out.
“I am disheartened with the sad and unfortunate cases of criminality often claiming the lives of young people and children, including alleged ritual murders, s€xu@l violence and abuse among others.
“We are a nation where the sanctity of life is honoured, celebrated and preciously safeguarded,” he said.
Mnangagwa stressed that Zimbabwe’s peaceful national character should not be taken for granted.
“Tiri nyika ine rugare nerunyararo,” he said, adding that those who exploit that peace for criminal gain have no place in society.
The Herald reports that the country is still reeling from the shocking discovery of three children’s bodies found in the boot of an abandoned vehicle in Harare’s Kuwadzana suburb.
The incident has sparked national outrage and intensified calls for justice.
In Masvingo, police have launched a manhunt for Morgen Gwazira (33), who allegedly murdered his wife, Liliosa Gwenhamo (34), by striking her with an axe before attempting to burn her body in a bonfire at their home in Machingambi village under Chief Mugabe.
Authorities say the suspect fled the scene and remains at large.
Meanwhile, in Bindura, police are investigating the death of Garikayi Junior Kamwendo (27), whose decomposed and mutilated body was found in a bushy area. Investigators confirmed that the victim’s head and private organs were missing, raising fears of ritualistic motives.
All cases remain under active investigation, with law enforcement working to apprehend suspects and determine the full circumstances behind the crimes.
President Mnangagwa reiterated that the Government will not tolerate such atrocities.
“Those who have a propensity to take advantage of the peaceful national character have no place in the country,” he said.
