Warriors Ready to Face Cameroon in Final AFCON Qualifier

The Warriors are gearing up for their last Africa Cup of Nations Group J qualifier against Cameroon, approaching the match with determination despite the challenge of playing on the Lions’ home turf.

Both teams have already qualified for next year’s Afcon finals in Morocco, but the battle for the top spot remains open, with Cameroon leading on 11 points and Zimbabwe closely behind with nine.

Coach Michael Nees emphasized the importance of the match, stating, “We’re not here just for a holiday. This is a serious game, and we need to perform at our best. The fans deserve that respect.”

Nees is expected to rotate his squad, giving opportunities to players who have seen less action. However, vice captain Marshall Munetsi and defender Gerald Takwara will miss the match due to injuries.

Nees anticipates an exciting encounter, saying, “We’re excited to play a strong team, but we’re not intimidated. Every match counts for FIFA rankings, and we aim to stay unbeaten in our qualifiers.”

The Warriors look to maintain their positive momentum as they face off against Cameroon today. The match will be played at Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium, Yaoundé. Kick-off is at 3 pm CAT.
