Vybz Kartel and Shenseea Nominated for Grammys

...For Best Reggae Album

The Grammy Awards have unveiled the nominees for Best Reggae Album, highlighting five notable projects, including Shenseea’s first solo nomination and Vybz Kartel’s first Grammy nod since his release from prison earlier this year.

The nominated albums are ‘Take It Easy’ by Collie Buddz, ‘Never Gets Late Here’ by Shenseea, ‘Bob Marley: One Love – Music Inspired by the Film (Deluxe)’ by Various Artists, ‘Party With Me’ by Vybz Kartel, and ‘Evolution’ by the Wailers. To qualify, albums must contain over 75% new reggae recordings.

Vybz Kartel’s ‘Party With Me’, released in May, stands out as it marks his first Grammy nomination. This comes after his release from prison in July, where he successfully appealed his murder conviction.

Shenseea’s ‘Never Gets Late Here’, also released in May, features 14 tracks and collaborations with Coi Leray, Masicka, and producers Rvssian and Di Genius. This nomination underscores her rising influence in the reggae scene, as she has previously been nominated for her work on other artists’ projects.

Collie Buddz receives his second nomination for ‘Take It Easy’, released in September 2023, which includes several dancehall artists and was produced with Jason ‘J-Vibe’ Farmer.

The Wailers are nominated for the second time, following their 2020 nod for ‘One World’. Their current album features collaborations with Gramps Morgan and Mykal Rose.

The 67th Annual Grammy Awards will take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 2, 2025.
