VIDEO: “I Thought I Was D€ad Too”: Lone Survivor Speaks Out After Tatenda Pinjisi’s Fatal Crash – The man who survived the horrific car crash that claimed the life of Sungura musician Tatenda Pinjisi has broken his silence, offering a haunting account of the moment everything changed.

The accident occurred on Friday, April 11, near the Norton Tollgate, as Pinjisi and his team were heading to a scheduled performance in Kadoma.

Tragically, the journey ended in disaster when another vehicle reportedly swerved into their path, resulting in a deadly head-on collision. Pinjisi, just 34, succumbed to his injuries two days later at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital.

According to the survivor, everything happened so fast, leaving no room to escape the crash.

“There was this small car, like one of those mini delivery vehicles,” he explained. “Out of nowhere, it crossed from the opposite side straight into our lane. Maybe the driver didn’t notice us coming, or maybe he lost control—I’m not sure. But he charged forward, shifted gears, and slammed straight into us.”

Three people d!ed at the scene: two of Pinjisi’s bandmates and a woman they had picked up earlier at the Harare Showgrounds.

Describing the immediate aftermath, the survivor said he initially couldn’t tell if he was alive.

“When we collided, I flew into the front seat, then landed back. Everything went dark for a moment,” he recounted. “When I opened my eyes, I realized I was the only one breathing.”

He also revealed the extent of the injuries that left Pinjisi fatally wounded. “Tatenda took the worst hit. The steering wheel crushed into his chest, and then the engine pushed against him. His leg was shattered, his arm twisted unnaturally, and his face was badly cut from broken glass.”
