Usain Bolt Reveals He Now Gets Out of Breath Climbing Stairs After Injury

Usain Bolt Reveals He Now Gets Out of Breath Climbing Stairs After Injury – Jamaican sprint legend Usain Bolt, widely regarded as the fastest man in history, has revealed that he now struggles with simple activities such as climbing stairs and no longer runs, following a torn Achilles tendon he suffered in 2024.

Speaking in a recent interview, the eight-time Olympic gold medallist admitted that he becomes short of breath when walking up stairs and has since limited his exercise to light gym sessions.

“No, I mostly do gym workouts. I’m not a fan, but I think now that I’ve been out for a while, I have to actually start running. Because when I walk up stairs, I get out of breath. I think when I start working on it fully again, I will probably have to do some laps just to get my breathing right,” Bolt said.

Bolt sustained the Achilles injury during the 2024 Soccer Aid for UNICEF charity match, and despite undergoing treatment, the condition has significantly affected his lifestyle.

Fans have expressed deep concern over the update, with some urging him to seek medical advice given the seriousness of breathlessness during routine activity.

The sprint icon has largely stepped away from competitive sport since his retirement in 2017.

While he briefly pursued football and remains a passionate supporter of Manchester United, his focus in recent years has shifted to family life and business ventures.

He was recently appointed as a team manager in the newly formed Baller League USA, which is set to launch in Miami in January 2026.

Despite his health struggles, Bolt’s legendary status in world athletics remains intact.

His record-breaking feats, including the unforgettable sprint at the 2016 Rio Olympics where he secured his third consecutive Olympic 100m title, continue to inspire athletes globally.

As one fan remarked, “Every great reaches a point where their legend is recorded in sports lore but no longer produced by them. To those legends, we say thank you.”
