UPDATE| Old Mutual Manager Sentenced to 15 years for R@ping UZ Student
Musa Nyasha David Manyika, a 41-year-old business development manager at Old Mutual, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after being found guilty of raping a University of Zimbabwe (UZ) student.
The decision was made by Harare regional magistrate Fadzai Mthombeni. Manyika faced two counts of rape, with the sentences running concurrently.
The incidents occurred in late 2022 when Manyika requested the student, who was on an Old Mutual scholarship, to help him at the company’s office.
After picking her up from UZ, he assaulted her in his office and threatened her not to report the incident.
In June 2024, Manyika raped her again after calling her for a supposed career discussion.
He drove her to a secluded area instead of her home, where he repeated the assault.
The court determined that the evidence presented by the prosecution proved the case beyond a reasonable doubt.
