Two-Month-Old Baby Girl Snatched While Mother Leaves Her with Six-Year-Old Sister to Buy Bananas

GWERU- A two-month-old baby girl has reportedly disappeared from the Gweru City Centre. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon when her mother briefly stepped away to buy bananas.
According to Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, a spokesperson for the Midlands Province police, the baby went missing around 1:40 PM at the Edgars Stores veranda.
The mother, Faith Jakaza, 26, had just finished breastfeeding her daughter and placed her in the care of her six-year-old sister. “In just a moment, the baby was gone,” Inspector Mahoko stated.
Jakaza returned a few minutes later to find her elder daughter alone, who informed her that someone had taken the baby, H-metro reports.
Panic erupted as Jakaza called for help and searched frantically, but despite the growing crowd, there was no sign of the infant.
The police are treating this case as a potential child abduction and have launched an investigation.
Inspector Mahoko appealed to the public for any information that could help locate the baby or the suspect. He also urged caregivers to keep a close watch on young children.
