Two Limpopo Men Create Jobs Through Laundry Service

In Limpopo, two men are taking charge of their futures by creating job opportunities for themselves and helping their community. Chichi Magagula, 34, and Manniks Dibakwane, 40, from Praktiseer, are changing the way people think about work in their area.
Facing a shortage of jobs, they decided to start a laundry service to meet a need in their community. Many people in their area rely on social grants, but they believe the R370 provided by the government is not enough to live on. Chichi and Manniks wanted to do more than just survive on these handouts.
“We saw a gap in the market and decided to offer a laundry service at a reasonable price,” Manniks said. They visit homes to pick up and deliver laundry, making it convenient for their customers.
It is unusual in their community for men to do laundry, especially for others. However, they are challenging this stereotype by proving that anyone can work hard, regardless of societal expectations.
The friends use their unemployment as motivation to think creatively about making money. They turned their difficult situation into an opportunity for success. “We can now provide for ourselves and not rely on others,” Chichi said.
As they grow their business, they hope to hire more unemployed young people in the future. “On some working days, we make good money,” Manniks added.
Chichi and Manniks are setting an example of resilience and determination in a community where unemployment is a major issue. Their laundry service not only helps them earn a living but also brings hope to those struggling to find work.
