Two Die as British Boxer Anthony Joshua Is Injured in Car Crash in Nigeria

Two Die as British Boxer Anthony Joshua Is Injured in Car Crash in Nigeria – British-Nigerian boxing star and former heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua was injured in a road traffic accident in Nigeria that claimed the lives of two members of his entourage.

The fatal crash occurred in Ogun State along the busy Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, when the SUV carrying Joshua reportedly collided with a stationary truck.

Two passengers in the vehicle, identified by close associates as Latz and Sina, died at the scene.

According to Nigerian police, Joshua sustained minor injuries and was taken to an undisclosed hospital for medical attention.

Ogun State Police Commissioner Lanre Ogunlowo confirmed that the boxer was receiving treatment and that investigations into the cause of the accident were ongoing.

Joshua’s promoter told the Daily Mail that while they were still trying to make direct contact with the boxer, images circulating online suggested that he “appears OK,” adding that they did not want to speculate further on his condition.

Meanwhile, Gbenga Omotoso, Lagos State Commissioner for Information, expressed condolences to the families and friends of the two deceased men, describing them as foreign nationals.

Preliminary findings by Nigeria’s Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) indicate that the vehicle may have been travelling at high speed before losing control while attempting to overtake another car, ultimately crashing into a truck parked by the roadside.

Reports indicate that Joshua and three others were travelling from Lagos to Sagamu at the time of the accident. The crash site is approximately 80 kilometres from Lagos and not far from a boarding school Joshua attended during his childhood before relocating to the United Kingdom at the age of 12.

The tragic incident comes just a week after Joshua’s high-profile victory over social media star Jake Paul in Miami, which marked his return to the ring after a 15-month break. The former Olympic champion is widely expected to face long-time rival Tyson Fury next year.

Authorities have since launched a full investigation as tributes continue to pour in for the two men who lost their lives.
