Two Brothers Among Those Arrested for Murder of Businessman Mutangadura

Two of the four suspected armed robbers arrested in connection with the murder of businessman Joseph Mutangadura are brothers. Phillip Mutasa, 38, and Vengesai Jabulani Mutasa, 41, are part of the group linked to the crime.
Reports indicate that Vengesai was involved in a shootout in Sanyati over the weekend, during which he allegedly shot and killed a police officer.
While some sources suggested Vengesai may have died from his injuries, police have confirmed he is currently receiving medical treatment, H-metro reports.
Detective Assistant Inspector Merylin Muriro, the acting spokesperson for the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), confirmed the brothers’ relationship and warned that the police are dedicated to bringing all criminals to justice. Alongside the Mutasa brothers, Given Mandizadza (34) and Anesu Machadu (32) are also in custody for their alleged roles in Mutangadura’s murder.
Phillip was arrested on October 3 in Mkoba 6, Gweru, while Vengesai was detained in Sanyati. Police have established that the weapon used by Vengesai to kill the officer was also used in Mutangadura’s murder.
Given Mandizadza was arrested on October 13 in Harare, where police recovered significant evidence, including two pistols and live ammunition. Authorities are still searching for three additional suspects connected to this case.
Mutangadura was killed at his farm in Ruwa while with his wife, Eunice Natalie Tande, during the robbery.
