Her work was inspired by a heartbreaking story of a woman who lost triplets in a hospital—an incident that triggered an outpouring of compassion and a call to action among the fund’s founding members.

“Compassion is nothing if it cannot move you to action,” Strive Masiyiwa wrote, praising Tsitsi’s dedication to transforming grief into meaningful change.

Founding partners of the Beginnings Fund include the Mohamed bin Zayed Foundation for Humanity, Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, The ELMA Philanthropies, Gates Foundation, and others, working hand-in-hand with several African Ministries of Health.

While the fund serves the broader region, its impact in Zimbabwe is expected to be significant, especially in under-resourced hospitals where the need is dire.

Through this initiative, Tsitsi Masiyiwa is helping ensure that more newborns have a fighting chance at life and that mothers receive the care they deserve.

Her work stands as a call to others: that even a small act of compassion can create a ripple effect of miracles.
