Tsholotsho Boy Killed Another Injured By Lightning
A Tsholotsho boy tragically lost his life after being struck by lightning while seeking shelter under a tree during a thunderstorm in Mabhandeni line, Mlangisa village.
The boy, along with four friends, was fetching water from a community borehole when the heavy rains began. Ward 4 Councillor Gift Tshuma confirmed the incident, stating that the lightning struck the tree before fatally hitting the boy. One of his companions sustained head injuries in the same strike.
In a related incident, a house in Malila village caught fire after being struck by lightning during the same storm. The owners, who are based in South Africa, were not present at the time.
Matabeleland North provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Glory Banda, stated that no official report had been filed regarding the incidents.
