Tragic Road Traffic Accidents Reported in Zim, Two Dead
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed two separate road traffic accidents that occurred on August 28, 2024, resulting in fatalities and injuries.
The first incident took place around 5:00 PM at the 28-kilometer peg along the Harare-Bulawayo Road. A Toyota Wish, transporting eight passengers, veered off the road and collided with a concrete power line pole.
Tragically, two individuals lost their lives in the crash, while six others sustained injuries.
The deceased have been taken to the Norton Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examinations, and the injured are receiving treatment at the same facility.
The driver of the vehicle reportedly fled the scene immediately following the accident.
In an unrelated incident later that evening, police in Harare are investigating a hit-and-run accident at approximately 11:30 PM.
This occurred at the intersection of Nemakonde Way and Stone Road, near the Greencroft Shopping Centre. An unidentified motorist struck a man, who has yet to be identified, and left the scene without stopping.
The victim suffered multiple injuries and is currently hospitalized at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about these incidents to come forward.
