Tragedy Strikes in Mashava: Two Children Die After Traditional Ceremony, 14 Others Critically Ill from Food Poisoning

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has launched an investigation following a tragic incident during a traditional beer ceremony in the Mashava area, which resulted in the deaths of two children and left 14 others critically ill.

Attendees of the ceremony reportedly consumed sadza and mahewu, traditional dishes, before suddenly experiencing severe stomach pains.

The victims included two minors, aged three and seven, who sadly succumbed to their ailments.

Currently, four children and seven adults are receiving urgent medical care at Masvingo General Hospital due to their critical condition.

Additionally, three other individuals are being treated at Mashava Clinic.

Authorities have stated that further details will be released as the investigation unfolds. The Commissioner Chief Staff Officer for Press and Public Relations, P. Nyathi, is overseeing the matter.
