Tragedy Strikes ICT Minister Tatenda Mavetera’s Family: Son-in-Law Dies in Crash, Daughter Hospitalised – Zimbabwe’s Minister of ICT and Chikomba West MP, Tatenda Mavetera, has been plunged into mourning following the untimely death of her son-in-law, Edward Tatenda Mubaiwa, in a devastating road accident.

Mavetera took to Facebook on Thursday, 17 April, to share the heartbreaking news, describing the past week as one of the darkest her family has faced.

She revealed that Edward, whom she described as a kind-hearted, loving father and husband, lost his life in a tragic crash that has deeply shaken their family.

The grief was compounded by the fact that her daughter Chido, Edward’s wife, survived the crash but was left seriously injured.

Mavetera confirmed that Chido is currently hospitalised, receiving medical care and fighting for her life.

The couple’s infant daughter, only two months old, is now without a father and in urgent need of prayers and support.

“Our daughter Chido is battling for her health in hospital, while her two-month-old baby, Treasure Mutsawashe, needs all the prayers and love we can offer,” Mavetera wrote.

“We are asking for strength—for Chido, for baby Treasure, and for the rest of our family as we try to make sense of this loss.”

Despite the pain, Mavetera expressed her unwavering faith, leaning on scripture to find solace.

She shared that Edward was laid to rest in Macheke last Friday and that the family continues to seek divine healing and peace.

“Tatenda’s memory lives on in our hearts,” she added. “We hold onto the promise of Psalm 34:18—The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
