Tout Who R@ped Grade 7 Pupil in Harare CBD Sentenced to 15 Years in Prison – A 25-year-old Harare man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for s€xually assaulting a Grade 7 student at the Rezende Street bus terminus.

The case was heard by Harare Regional Magistrate Mrs. Fadzai Mthombeni.

Givemore Mutape pleaded not guilty but was convicted after a full trial.

In his defense, he told the court, “I am not a tout; I repair car radios for a living. I am also physically incapable of engaging in s£xual activity, and I am willing to undergo a medical examination to prove this.”

The State, led by Mr. Kudakwashe Muza, presented evidence that the incident occurred on July 19 last year when the minor was returning home after collecting money from her stepfather.

According to the State, “The accused allegedly intercepted the girl at the Rezende Parkade rank, led her into a parked commuter vehicle, and s£xually assaulted her before releasing her.”

The case came to light after the victim’s uncle raised concerns at her school about her late return from town. The girl later disclosed the assault to her teacher.

Mr. Muza added, “This conviction demonstrates that the law will act decisively to protect minors and hold offenders accountable.”
