The Charambas Celebrate 30 Years in Gospel Music

The Charambas Celebrate 30 Years in Gospel Music – Zimbabwe’s iconic gospel couple, Pastor Charles and Mai Olivia Charamba, marked three decades of musical ministry with a soul-lifting concert that blended nostalgia, worship, and heartfelt gratitude.

Held in Harare over the weekend, the event drew a massive crowd of believers and music lovers who filled the venue to capacity, celebrating 30 years of powerful gospel music that has shaped Zimbabwe’s spiritual soundscape since the mid-1990s.

Unlike ordinary concerts, this anniversary show carried a unique twist — all 30 songs performed were chosen by fans through social media polls. The couple’s daughter and event organiser, Shalom Charamba, explained the inspiration behind the setup:

“We wanted to honour the people who have journeyed with our parents all these years. The 30 songs performed were selected by fans from their catalogue, covering the period from 1995 to 2025.”

The night began on a touching note with a moving performance by the couple’s daughter, Eternity Charamba, symbolising the continuation of a musical and spiritual legacy.

The lineup also featured top gospel names such as Janet Manyowa, Minister Benny Hadassah Muzanamombe, and Pastor Tinashe Murigo, turning the event into a reunion of Zimbabwe’s gospel elite.

Groups like Voices of Triumph kept the worship energy alive during interludes, amplifying the joyful atmosphere that radiated throughout the night.

When the Charambas finally took the stage, the crowd erupted as timeless classics such as Machira Chete and Nyika Zimbabwe filled the air — songs that have inspired faith and hope for generations.

Shalom confirmed that the celebration coincided with the couple’s latest milestone — the release of three albums containing 30 new songs, representing their 30-year journey in music.

“The turnout and atmosphere were amazing. We thank God for His grace and for everyone who made this possible,” she added.
