S£x Worker Jailed 18 Months for Threatening to Expose Clients

S£x Worker Jailed 18 Months for Threatening to Expose Clients – A 43-year-old s£x worker has been sentenced to 18 months in prison after she was found guilty of blackmailing two men she contacted through an adult website, a UK court has heard.
Monika Konopska appeared before Chelmsford Crown Court, where it emerged that she had threatened to expose the victims’ private activities to their families and employers unless they paid her money.
According to the prosecution, Konopska targeted two men from Hertfordshire and Essex, both of whom she had never met in person.
She allegedly used intimidation tactics, including sending images of one victim’s children and evidence showing she knew their residential addresses and workplaces.
In a disturbing incident, Konopska personally delivered a handwritten blackmail letter to one victim’s home, even knocking on his door after claiming she had spoken to neighbours.
The man, fearing for his safety, hid inside his house while she demanded further payment.
Prosecutor Mark Halsey told the court that the accused initially requested a small amount before escalating her demands to £1,000, accompanied by threats to “cause a scene” if payment was not made. Out of fear, the victim complied, eventually losing a total of £2,300.
The court heard that Konopska later continued her campaign under different aliases, including “Serena” and “Bianca”, issuing further threats and deadlines for payment.
In one instance, she warned a victim that she could “destroy his reputation” if he failed to comply.
A second victim, who also received similar threats, reported the matter to the police instead of making any payments.
During investigations, Konopska reportedly claimed that the messages were part of a “role play” scenario.
However, her case was weakened after she provided her real bank details to the victims, ultimately leading to her arrest.

Defence lawyer Rebecca Malczewski told the court that Konopska had turned to sex work out of desperation after losing her job and expressed deep remorse for her actions. She added that her client now faces losing her job as a carer and has separated from her long-term partner.
Delivering judgment, Recorder Suki Dhadda condemned the offences, stating they had caused significant fear, stress, and emotional distress to the victims.
“This type of offending is deplorable. The victims were left frightened and anxious, fearing serious damage to their lives and reputations,” she said.
Konopska, who is believed to be originally from Poland, will serve at least half of her sentence in custody before being released on licence. The court also heard that her conviction could have implications for her immigration status in the United Kingdom.
