Stolen Toyota Land Cruiser Recovered in Malawi, Two Suspects Arrested

Malawi police have arrested two suspects in connection with a stolen Toyota Land Cruiser that was traced to Area 47 in Lilongwe.

The individuals, identified as Zimbabwean national Tendai Mtunguwazi (40), pictured on the right and South African Kabelo Khotlele (28), pictured on the left, were apprehended after the buyer suspected foul play and alerted authorities.

In a statement posted via Crime Watch Zimbabwe, investigations are underway to determine whether the vehicle was originally stolen in Zimbabwe or South Africa.

Authorities are collaborating with regional law enforcement agencies to uncover the circumstances surrounding the theft and how the vehicle was smuggled across borders.

Malawi police have praised the buyer for promptly reporting the suspicious transaction, which led to the swift arrest of the suspects.

Officials are urging the public to exercise caution when purchasing second-hand vehicles, as criminal syndicates continue to exploit unsuspecting buyers in the illicit trade of stolen cars.
