St John’s Grade 7 Pupil Dies, School Mourns as Reports Emerge Over Form One Dispute – St John’s Preparatory School for Boys has confirmed the death of one of its Grade 7 pupils, extending condolences to the learner’s family, friends and the wider school community.

The school identified the pupil as Said Shillaev in a statement issued by headmistress Janine Harvey.

“It is with an extremely heavy heart that I write to inform you of the passing of one of our Grade 7 students, Said Shillaev,” Harvey said.

“Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest sympathies are with the Shillaev family, his friends, and all those who knew and loved him as we navigate this devastating loss together.”

She added: “During this difficult time, may we hold one another close in compassion, kindness, and prayer, remembering the importance of supporting each other as a community.”

The school did not disclose the circumstances surrounding the learner’s death.

However, reports circulating on social media claim the Grade 7 pupil died after taking his own life following a disagreement with his parents over his choice of secondary school. It is alleged that his parents wanted him to attend St John’s College for Form One, while he preferred Peterhouse.

Unverified reports further allege that the pupil accessed a firearm kept at the family home and that his father owns a security company.

Authorities had not publicly commented on the allegations at the time of publication.
